Tunnel Six is a sextet comprised of some of the most notable up and coming jazz musicians from the Pacific Northwest of the U.S. and from Eastern Canada. The group was formed when its members were attending the International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at the Banff Centre in Alberta, Canada. Though the band was formed by a chance meeting, the strong musical chemistry between the band members was immediately evident from the first notes they played. Within the span of the three-week workshop, the band members felt as though they had already been playing together for years. They play original compositions by all the band members and hope to connect to their audiences through the strong and intuitive storytelling elements of their improvisations. They are currently planning an extensive tour of Canada, the midwest U.S., and the Pacific Northwest for 2010, which will culminate in the recording of their debut full-length album in Portland, OR.
We gratefully acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, which last year invested $26.3 million in music throughout Canada. 
The Tunnel Six performance in Portland, OR as well as the recording and release of their debut album are funded in part by the Regional Arts and Culture Council. 
« Tunnel Six » est un sextuor composé de musiciens de jazz parmi les plus prometteurs du Nord-Ouest Pacifique des États-Unis et de l’est du Canada. Le groupe s’est formé en Alberta au Canada, au Centre Banff, où ses membres faisaient partie du Banff International Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music. Bien que le groupe se soit formé après une rencotre hasardeuse, la complicité musicale forte entre les membres du groupe était évidente dès le début. Après les trois semaines du programme, c’était comme s’ils avaient joué ensemble depuis toujours. Les compositions originales qu’ils jouent sont écrites par tous les membres du groupe. Ils espèrent pouvoir communiquer avec les spectateurs à travers les éléments narratifs et intuitifs de leurs improvisations. Présentement, ils organisent une tournée qui se déroulera en 2010 au Canada et aux Midwest et Nord-Ouest Pacifique des États-Unis. A la fin de cette tournée, le groupe va enregistrer leur premier album à Portland, OR, USA.
Nous remercions de son soutien le Conseil des Arts du Canada, qui a investi 26,3 millions de dollars l’an dernier dans la musique à travers le Canada.
